The Lake Maggiore Loop is one of northern Italy's most iconic road cycling routes. This scenic ride circles the entire lake, crossing two Italian regions and passing through elegant lakeside towns, historic villages and spectacular landscapes.
A highlight of the route is the ferry crossing between Intra and Laveno-Mombello, allowing cyclists to experience both the Piedmont and Lombardy shores of Lake Maggiore in a single unforgettable ride.

Route Description
The route follows mainly paved roads, circling the shores of Lake Maggiore.
From the Piedmont side of the lake, cycle to Intra, where bicycles can be taken aboard the ferry to Laveno-Mombello, crossing to the Lombardy shore.
The ride continues through a series of picturesque lakeside towns, including Ispra and Angera, home to the impressive Borromeo Fortress, one of the best-preserved medieval castles in northern Italy.
At Sesto Calende, cross the Ticino River to return to the Piedmont side of the lake. The final section passes through Arona, Meina, Lesa and Belgirate before returning to Stresa.
Combining breathtaking scenery, charming villages and rewarding road cycling, this is one of the finest cycling experiences around Lake Maggiore.
