Stresa - Mergozzo

The flower route between two lakes

A trail among Lake Maggiore’s amazing blossoms; camelias, rhododendrons and azaleas will make your bike tour colorful, especially in April and May.

Start from Stresa and follow the SS 33 (road signs to Verbania), pass Fondotoce’s roundabout and, at the petrol station, turn right towards the parking. Cross the small bridge, and you will find the start of the Fondotoce cycle path that leads to the Regional Nature Reserve of the thicket of Fondotoce, a European protected area.

Continue until the crossing, if you go straight, you’ll reach the animals’ observatory, on the right, the path continues towards the beach. After a relaxing pause at the beach, continue to the right and follow the path along the Toce river. You’ll see lush trees, flowers and, if you’ll be lucky, some wild rabbits. Pass under the road bridge, the railway bridge and the highway bridge.
